Melissa Chaniyara
Partner & Registered Representative
(703) 356-4360 x717 | mchaniyara@vlpfa.com
Melissa has been with VLP Financial Advisors since first joining the firm as an intern in 2006! Now she is partner and the in-house specialist on our portfolio management and enhanced reporting software, Tamarac. She takes a personal approach to working with clients to learn about them as people, to better understand their goals and concerns so we can help them plan for their financial futures.
Melissa supports our financial advisors by overseeing asset allocation for clients by monitoring portfolios, placing trades, and rebalancing accounts. She is also an integral part of VLP’s Investment Committee which meets quarterly to review our asset allocation, analyze our performance, and works to identify any changes that need to be made in holdings or target asset allocations. She has a Bachelor’s in Finance from George Mason University.
Mel and her husband, Carl, have two children – Carter and Charlie (Charlotte) -- and spend a lot of time chauffeuring them to and from soccer, basketball and swim. She lives greater by filling her weekends with home projects, spending time with her family and working to turn her “black thumb” green as she learns more about gardening.
Asset allocation is an investment strategy that will not guarantee a profit or protect you from loss.
