Executive clients who need help navigating the ins and outs of their compensation, stock options, and fringe benefits know to turn to Rose, who’s been with VLP for more than 20 years. She specializes in working with busy executives, approaching retirement, who are comfortable openly sharing their financial and personal goals but need to manage lots of moving pieces.
Rose also works with individuals and families to provide financial confidence, guiding her clients through their financial options by creating well-designed financial plans and strategic investment strategies. This allows them to focus on what they enjoy most, not their finances! She also works with corporate clients to design and manage their company retirement plans and develop and deliver employee education.
Rose is actively involved in the Financial Planning Association National Capital Area as a board member of many years, and most recently as past president. Rose is also involved with our broker-dealer, Cetera Advisor Networks, as a member of the Advisory Engagement Council. Rose is a graduate of Penn State University.

Melissa Chaniyara
Partner & Assistant Portfolio Manager
(703) 356-4360 x717 | mchaniyara@vlpfa.com
Melissa has been with VLP Financial Advisors since first joining the firm as an intern in 2006! Now she is partner and the in-house specialist on our portfolio management and enhanced reporting software, Tamarac. She takes a personal approach to working with clients to learn about them as people, to better understand their goals and concerns so we can help them plan for their financial futures.
Melissa supports our financial advisors by overseeing asset allocation for clients by monitoring portfolios, placing trades, and rebalancing accounts. She is also an integral part of VLP’s Investment Committee which meets quarterly to review our asset allocation, analyze our performance, and works to identify any changes that need to be made in holdings or target asset allocations. She has a Bachelor’s in Finance from George Mason University.
Mel and her husband, Carl, have two children – Carter and Charlie (Charlotte) -- and spend a lot of time chauffeuring them to and from soccer, basketball and swim. She lives greater by filling her weekends with home projects, spending time with her family and working to turn her “black thumb” green as she learns more about gardening.
Asset allocation is an investment strategy that will not guarantee a profit or protect you from loss.
Group Investment Committee
In addition to your personal advisory team, VLP also has an internal team responsible for monitoring trends and guiding overall investment strategies. This group of experienced investment professionals meets quarterly—or more frequently, as markets dictate—to review asset performance, consider market conditions, and set forward-looking investment policy.
